Alkaline weekly, iron every few months

Alkaline cleaners lift brake dust and road film, and unlike an iron remover they also strip tyre browning: the tyre's ozone protectant oxidising on the surface, which water won't touch. They don't attack the iron in your discs, so they rust less after the wash, and they're cheaper per wash without the sulphur smell.
