Why bugs come off

Bug splatter is mostly protein and fat. Alkaline cleaners break both down. That's why a good alkaline pre-wash shifts fresh bugs just like a bottle labelled “insect remover”. Dedicated removers use much the same chemistry, made thicker so they cling and stay wet on one spot.

Three rules: get bugs off early, let the product dwell instead of scrubbing, and work on a cool panel. Bugs left to bake in the sun can etch the clear coat, and that's a polishing job, not a chemical one.

Strong alkaline cleaners such as Green Star and Vorreiniger B must be diluted as directed and never left to dry on the surface.
