Water spots on paint or glass?
They're minerals, so use acid: an acid foam or a water-spot remover. If one won't shift, it's etched and needs polishing.
Bugs on the bumper and mirrors?
Use an alkaline pre-wash. A dedicated insect remover is for spot work.
Coating stopped beading?
It's usually buried under mineral film. Use an acid wash after an alkaline one, and the beading comes back.
Paint looks dull and flat?
Mineral film first: acid wash. Still dull after that? It needs polishing.
Paint feels rough after washing?
Embedded iron. Use an iron remover, and only clay if you'll polish afterwards.
Tar spots on the sills, tree sap or sticker residue?
Use a solvent. Like dissolves like.
Swirl marks?
Polishing removes them. A lubricating shampoo stops them coming back.
🛞 Wheels & tyres
Brake dust every week?
Use an alkaline wheel cleaner weekly and an iron remover every few months.
Orange dust on clean wheels after driving?
Your brake discs flash-rusted after the wash. Use alkaline cleaners weekly and finish with Rustopper on the wet discs.
Tyres gone brown?
The tyre's ozone protectant has oxidised. An alkaline tyre cleaner removes it.
💺 Interior
Stained fabric seats?
Food and drink stains need an alkaline cleaner. Tide marks need a mild acid.
Blue jeans dye on light leather?
Clean with a pH-neutral leather cleaner, then protect against dye transfer.
Smeary windscreen at night?
It's leftover residue. Use an ammonia-free cleaner and two towels.
Foggy or yellow headlights?
The lens has UV-damaged. Restore it, then protect it with a UV coating.
