Alkaline, then acid, then neutral
Road dirt is two things: organic film (oils, grime, bugs) and mineral film (limescale, water spots). The grease sits on top of the minerals, so on a dirty car run alkaline first, rinse, then acid, then neutral. Never let any foam dry on the panel: work in the shade and rinse from the bottom up.
