Yum Cars Yum Foam | Pre-Wash Snow Foam

Yum Foam is Yum Cars' contactless pre-wash — a snow foam built to cling, soften and carry away road film before a mitt ever touches the paint. Yum deliberately dialled back the lubricating agents you'd find in a shampoo to make room for more cleaning power, which is exactly what a pre-wash should do.

The chemistry

We read the Safety Data Sheet before we list anything. Yum Foam is a high-active surfactant blend — anionic surfactants for lift, with amphoteric and non-ionic co-surfactants that build the dense, stable foam and help it hang on vertical panels. A small amount of chelating agent helps it work in harder water. Yum Cars rate it at pH 7 and state it will not compromise waxes, sealants or ceramic coatings.

Use it for

The pre-wash stage of every maintenance wash. Yum Cars state it is safe on painted, vinyl and glass surfaces, plus engine bays, tyres, trims and alloy wheels. It emulsifies dirt and grime and does not reactivate during rinsing.

How to use

Rinse the car first. For heavier grime, spray the lower panels with Yum Citrus before foaming. Add 100–150ml of Yum Foam to your foam cannon bottle and top up with water. Foam the whole car, leave it to dwell for 5–10 minutes without letting it dry, then rinse from the top down. Follow with a contact wash using Yum Wash.

Work in the shade on cool panels.

Common questions

What is the difference between snow foam and car shampoo?
Snow foam is a touchless pre-wash: it clings, softens and carries away loose dirt before a mitt touches the paint. Shampoo is built for lubrication during the contact wash. Use Yum Foam first, then Yum Wash.

Is Yum Foam safe on ceramic coatings and wax?
Yum Cars state it will not compromise waxes, sealants or ceramic coatings.

How much snow foam do I put in the cannon?
100 to 150ml, topped up with water. Let it dwell 5 to 10 minutes without drying, then rinse top down.

Good to know

Available in 500ml and 5 litre. The concentrate is a skin and eye irritant — wear gloves when decanting and keep it out of reach of children.
