Yum Cars Yum Undress | Tyre & Rubber Cleaner
Yum Undress does what the name says: it takes the old dressing, browning and road grime off the tyre so the rubber is properly clean. A thick gel clings to the sidewall while fast-acting cleaners and degreasers do the work, and it is the step that makes your tyre dressing last.
The chemistry
Tyres brown because antiozonant migrates to the surface of the rubber and oxidises, and old silicone dressings trap dirt on top of it. Yum Cars describe Undress as fast acting, with a powerful amount of cleaning agents and degreasers, in a thick gel-like consistency that clings to the tyre. The Safety Data Sheet shows non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants with a chelating agent. Yum Cars state it safely cleans rubbers and plastics without drying them out.
Use it for
Tyres and rubber at every wash, before applying Yum Dress. Yum Cars also recommend it for engine bays and all exterior plastic components.
How to use
Use neat, straight from the bottle. Yum Cars note that diluting it drastically reduces performance. Spray generously onto the tyre, agitate with a stiff tyre brush until the foam turns from brown to white, then rinse thoroughly. Keep it off hot wheels and do not let it dry on the wheel face or surrounding paint.
Common questions
Why do my tyres keep going brown?
Browning is oxidised antiozonant from the rubber plus old dressing holding dirt. Until that layer is scrubbed off, new dressing sits on top of it and fails early.
Can I dilute Yum Undress?
Yum Cars say no: it is designed to be used neat, and diluting it causes a drastic reduction in performance.
How do I know the tyre is clean?
Keep scrubbing and rinsing until the foam stays white instead of turning brown.
Good to know
