Nobody reads the back of a bottle at 7am with a foam cannon in one hand. So we printed a guide, and it goes in the box with every YumCars order.
When the YumCars range landed at our studio, we did what we always do before listing anything: read the safety data sheets, read Yum's own product pages, and used every bottle in the studio. The chemistry held up. The labels were the problem. Some bottles gave no foam cannon figure at all, others gave a ratio with no volume, and even we had to stop and work out what a few of them meant.
If a chemist has to stop and work it out, a customer washing their car on a Sunday morning will just guess. Guessing is how you end up with foam that runs off in seconds or a shampoo mixed three times too strong. So we wrote the YumCars dilution guide.
A printed guide in every Yum order. Free, every time, covering every product in the range.
Millilitres first. "100 ml per litre", with the ratio in brackets for anyone who wants it.
Yum's own figures. Checked by Yum's Australian distributor before it went to print.
Try before you buy. Walk in to our Melbourne studio and test the products on our panels.
Learn it properly. We run in-house training with the same products we sell.
Millilitres first, ratios in brackets
Most dilution charts are written as ratios, and ratios are where people go wrong. Does 1:10 mean one part product to ten parts water, or one part in ten? For a foam cannon it hardly matters, because every cannon bottle is marked to the litre. So the guide says it the way you actually mix it: product in first, then water up to the 1 litre line.
That makes 1:10 simply 100 ml, 1:20 is 50 ml and 1:5 is 200 ml. The ratio still sits in brackets for the detailers who think in ratios, but you never need it to get the mix right.
| Product | Use | How much |
|---|---|---|
| Yum Wash | Wash bucket | 100 ml per bucket |
| Yum Wash | Foam cannon, weekly dirt | 100 ml per litre (1:10) |
| Yum Wash | Foam cannon, heavier grime | 150 ml per litre |
| Yum Citrus | General maintenance | 100 to 200 ml per litre (1:10 to 1:5) |
| Yum Citrus | Very well kept car | 50 ml per litre (1:20) |
| Yum Wheel Foam | Foam cannon | 200 ml per litre (1:5) |
| Yum Reset | Wash bucket | 50 ml per 10 litres |
| Yum Dress V2 | Tyres and exterior trim | Neat |
| Yum Dress V2 | Engine bays | 200 ml per litre (1:5) |
| Yum Wash MF | Washing machine | 30 ml per load, 60 ml for dirty loads |
That is a sample. The printed guide covers the whole range, and each product page on our store carries its own dilution block with the same figures, so you can check a number from your phone at the tap.
Every figure is Yum's own published guidance. Where Yum's pages gave no number, as with the Yum Reset bucket dose, it came from Yum's Australian distributor, who read the guide before we printed it. Where the manufacturer says nothing, we say nothing rather than invent a figure.
The best dilution chart is the one you actually read before you mix.

Why it goes in every order
A dilution chart on a website only helps if you go looking for it. A printed guide sits in the garage next to the bottles, so the right amount is there when you are standing at the tap with a cannon bottle in your hand.
It also fits how we work. We pick products on their chemistry, and we tell you what the manufacturer claims and what they do not. The guide is the practical end of that: the same care we take reading a safety data sheet, turned into something you can use at 7am. It is free with every order from the YumCars collection, including the Wash Bundle 2.0 and our YumCars 3pH Wash System.
Try it firstWalk in and test on our panels
If you would rather see a product work before you buy it, come to the studio. Walk-ins are welcome at our Heidelberg West studio in Melbourne, and we keep test panels set up so you can try the products yourself: see how Yum Foam clings, feel the slickness of Yum Wash under a mitt, or watch Yum Wheels change colour as it reacts with iron fallout.
You will be talking to the people who use these products every day in the studio, not a sales script. Bring your questions, and bring photos of your car if you want advice on what it actually needs.
TrainingIn-house training with the products we sell
We also run hands-on training at the studio, using the same products that are on our shelves. It ranges from the wash chemistry masterclass, which covers the alkaline, acid and neutral steps of a proper wash, through to ceramic coating application. We have trained dealership detailing teams as well as enthusiasts working on their own cars.
If you want to understand why a product is dosed the way it is, rather than just follow the number on the guide, that is where to start. Our foam cannon guide and car shampoo chemistry articles are a good primer before you come in.
Pick the product. Start with the Wash Bundle 2.0 if you are new to the range.
Check the guide. It is in the box, and on every product page.
Product in first. Then water to the 1 litre line.
Still unsure? Ask us, or walk in and try it on our panels.

Yes. Every YumCars order from Alpha Details ships with our printed YumCars dilution guide, free. It lists every product in the range in millilitres first, with the ratio in brackets.
How much Yum Wash goes in a foam cannon?
Yum's figure is 100 ml made up to 1 litre with water for normal weekly dirt (1:10), and 150 ml for heavier grime. In a bucket it is 100 ml per wash bucket.
What does 1:10 mean in a foam cannon?
Put 100 ml of product in the cannon bottle, then top up with water to the 1 litre line. Every cannon bottle measures to the litre, so that is how we write every figure in the guide.
Where do the figures in the guide come from?
From Yum's own published guidance. Where Yum's pages give no figure, the number came from Yum's Australian distributor, who checked the guide before we printed it.
Can I test YumCars products before I buy?
Yes. Walk-ins are welcome at our Heidelberg West studio in Melbourne, where you can try the products on our test panels before you buy.
Do you offer training with the products?
Yes. We run in-house training at the studio, from wash chemistry to ceramic coating application, using the same products we sell.
