Soft99 Glaco Mirror Coat Zero
Glaco Mirror Coat Zero — a 40 ml spray for side mirrors that leaves a layer of microscopic silica crystals. Soft99 describes the result as an ultra-hydrophobic surface.
The chemistry
Soft99 lists the ingredients as alcohols and silica — a silica-crystal coating, unlike Blave and the Roll On liquids, which list silicones. The coating is the crystal layer itself, which is why Soft99 says never to touch or wipe a coated mirror: wiping destroys it. Soft99 gives no durability figure, so we don't quote one. Wipers don't reach side mirrors, so the coating has to do all the work of clearing water.
Use it for
Side mirrors only. Soft99 says not to use it on window glass, on transparent plastics (headlights, visors, wind guards, goggles), or on repainted cars or cars in poor body condition.
How to use
Apply only to a thoroughly cleaned and dried mirror. Spray evenly from about 15 cm away, moving side to side and then top to bottom until the whole mirror is wet — don't apply more than necessary. Leave it to dry completely before use: about one hour in summer and two in winter. Do not touch or wipe the coated mirror. If product lands anywhere it shouldn't, wipe it off straight away with a clean towel. Use in a well-ventilated area, never spray towards your face or while driving. It is flammable; wear gloves and wash your hands after use.
