Soft99 Ultra Glaco 70ml | 12-Month Windscreen Rain Repellent Coating

Soft99's flagship windscreen coating — a fluorine-based water repellent built on Soft99's Fusso technology, rated by Soft99 for up to 12 months of water repellency per application.

What you're buying. One 70 ml bottle with the felt applicator built into the cap, made by Soft99 in Japan.

The chemistry. Soft99 lists Ultra Glaco as a fluorine-based water repellent and says it uses its Fusso technology; Soft99's European product sheet describes that as fluoropolymer-based. The label lists isopropyl alcohol, so it is flammable — keep it away from heat. A fluorinated surface layer has very low surface energy, which is why water beads up and sheds from the glass instead of spreading. Soft99 says it resists wipers, dust, oil, car washes and detergent, and claims it lasts six times longer than standard glass coatings. Those durability figures are Soft99's own, measured in Japan, not independent Australian testing.

Why it matters at night. Soft99 positions a treated windscreen as less stressful and less dangerous to drive through in rain, especially at night: water beads and sheds instead of sheeting across the glass. Soft99's European sheet says it repels water at speeds as low as 45–60 km/h.

How to apply — Soft99's instructions for this pack. Apply only to clean, dry glass. Press the felt applicator onto the glass, squeeze gently to release liquid, and rub it in firmly with complete coverage. Let it dry for 5–10 minutes, then wipe the residue off with a damp, wrung-out towel. Keep the glass dry for 12 hours for maximum effect and durability.

Where Soft99's sheets differ. Soft99's European sheet finishes differently: wait for a white haze to form, then polish it off with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Both sheets agree on clean, dry glass and 12 hours kept dry, so follow the instructions printed on the pack in your hand.

Prep matters. Soft99 says not to use it on glass that is already coated, so strip any old coating or film first — Glaco Glass Compound Roll On is Soft99's own prep and removes remnants of Ultra Glaco — then rinse and dry completely.

Don't use it on the inside of glass, transparent plastics (headlights, visors, wind guards, goggles), or glass that is already coated. It can damage wiper rubber and cause rattling; replace the blade if that happens. Use only water or hydrophobic washer fluid, never oil-film-remover washer fluid. Glass can turn temporarily white when temperature or humidity changes (leaving a tunnel, for example) — run the wipers to clear it. Wear gloves and wash your hands after use.
