Soft99 Glaco DX

Glaco DX — 110 ml glass coating that Soft99 calls the most powerfully repellent in the Glaco series, rated by Soft99 at 4 months per application.

The chemistry

Soft99 lists the ingredients as alcohols, siloxanes and acids and does not publish more detail than that. It says the coating also repels traffic film, snow and frost, that durability depends on usage patterns, and to reapply if the effect weakens. The 4-month figure is Soft99's own, not independent Australian testing.

Use it for

Daily-driver windscreens where you want a strong repellent coating and are happy to reapply around the four-month mark. For comparison, Soft99 rates Ultra Glaco at up to 12 months.

How to use

Wash away dirt and dust and dry the glass completely — Soft99 says wet glass reduces effectiveness, and excess liquid, other coatings or traffic film can make the liquid repel. Remove any existing coating or film beforehand with an abrasive cleaner (Glaco Glass Compound Roll On is Soft99's own glass prep). Unscrew the cap, press the felt head onto the glass and squeeze to wet it, then apply in a criss-cross pattern, squeezing out more liquid as needed and leaving no gaps. Let it dry for 5–10 minutes, then wipe off with a tightly wrung-out damp towel — residue left behind can make wipers judder. Don't leave it on too long before wiping, as that can cause unevenness, and don't use excessive force.

Glass only: Soft99 says DX is not suitable for plastic, interior surfaces, specially coated glass or side mirrors. Avoid bright sunlight and hot glass, and below 10°C warm the glass with the interior heater. Use only water or hydrophobic washer fluid, not traffic-film-removal washer fluid. In extreme conditions the glass can fog on the outside — run the wipers straight away. Check your vehicle manual for any contraindications.
