Soft99 Cutting Compound
Cutting Compound — 300ml. The heavy-cut first stage of Soft99's three-step paint correction system. Removes deeper scratches, orange peel, and sandpaper marks left by paint repair work.
The chemistry
A coarse aluminium-oxide and ceramic-abrasive blend in a water-based carrier. The abrasive grade is the heaviest in the Soft99 compound range — calibrated to remove material from the clear coat at the rate needed to flatten visible defects in 60-120 seconds of work-in.
Leaves micro-marring that needs the Polishing Compound (mid-grit) and Finishing Compound (fine-grit) to clear afterwards. Not a single-stage product — designed as Step 1 of a three-step system.
Use it for
Removing deep scratches that have penetrated more than 2-3 microns into the clear coat, flattening orange peel from a respray, removing sandpaper marks from paint repair work, prep before a single-stage finishing pass on heavily oxidised paint.
How to use
Apply onto a foam cutting pad with a dual-action or rotary polisher. Work the panel at 1500-2200 RPM (rotary) or speed 4-5 (DA) until the compound clears. Wipe residue. Follow with Polishing Compound, then Finishing Compound, then a wax or coating.
