A clay and the lubricant it needs, in one order: a 4.5L container of Labocosmetica LUBRIFICA PLUS concentrate and a Soft99 Surface Smoother clay. Soft99 directs that its clay be used with a lubricant, and LUBRIFICA PLUS is a clay lubricant. Priced below buying the two separately.
WHAT'S IN THE KIT
- 1 × Labocosmetica LUBRIFICA PLUS 4.5L. Concentrated clay lubricant and film slip solution, diluted with water before use. Graduated pipette included.
- 1 × Soft99 Surface Smoother. Genuine Soft99 clay for lifting bonded contamination from paint.
WHY THIS PAIRING
Surface Smoother is not a water-only clay. Soft99's instructions call for a clay lubricant (or water with a little shampoo), and LUBRIFICA PLUS is purpose-made for the job. One container goes a long way: the rest is your slip solution for installing PPF, wet-install vinyl and window tint, which is what the same concentrate is formulated for.
DILUTION
In our own studio we run LUBRIFICA PLUS at roughly 30ml per litre of water, and that is a sensible starting point to dial in from. At that rate the 4.5L container makes in the order of 150 litres of working solution. Labocosmetica publishes richer ratios for specific jobs; the full detail is on the LUBRIFICA PLUS page.
HOW TO USE
Wash the car first. Keep both the clay and the panel well lubricated with diluted LUBRIFICA PLUS, work one section at a time in straight passes rather than circles, and fold and knead the clay when its surface darkens. Never use it dry and never reuse a piece you have dropped. Clay is the last step of decontamination, so do it before you polish. Clay paint and glass, not paint protection film.
FINISH THE JOB
Soft99 rates Surface Smoother as a higher-abrasiveness clay, so plan a polish or a protection step afterwards rather than leaving the paint bare. Rinse the panel before you apply it.

LUBRIFICA PLUS is a concentrate, so wear eye protection when decanting it and read the Safety Data Sheet before use; Labocosmetica marks it for professional detailer use.
