Labocosmetica LUBRIFICA PLUS — Concentrated Clay Lubricant & PPF Slip Solution

One 4.5L concentrate for two jobs: lubricating a clay bar, mitt or block on paint, and wet-installing paint protection film, vinyl, decals and window tint. You dilute it with water to suit the job, so one jerrycan goes a very long way.

Per Labocosmetica it is a silane-free lubricant that is compatible with all clay types. Its safety data sheet lists it for professional use.

Free pipette included. Every 4.5L LUBRIFICA PLUS order ships with a graduated pipette so you can measure the concentrate accurately instead of eyeballing it.

ON PAINT — CLAYING

Clay marks paint when it drags across a dry or thinly lubricated surface. A surfactant-based lubricant lays down a slick film between the bar and the paint, so the bar glides over bonded contamination instead of pushing it across the clear coat. Keep the panel visibly wet, use light pressure, work out of direct sun, and bin any clay that hits the floor.

In our studio claying is the last step of decontamination, not the first: chemical decon comes first, and anything that has been clayed is polished or sealed afterwards.

ON FILM — WET INSTALL

For PPF, vinyl, decals and window tint it works as a slip solution: controlled glide while you position the film, and a clean release as you squeegee out. Dish soap is the improvised alternative, and its surfactant load varies from bottle to bottle, so glide and tack are never quite the same twice and residue can be left under the film. A dedicated concentrate removes that variable.

DILUTION — TWO SOURCES, KEPT SEPARATE

• Our studio, claying and film: roughly 30ml per litre of water (about 1:33), the same dilution for both jobs. At that rate a 4.5L container makes in the order of 150 litres of working solution.
• Labocosmetica's published ratios for LUBRIFICA (product : water): 1:5 for a clay block or mitt, 1:10 for a clay bar, 1:15 for PPF, 1:20 for window film and stickers — richer than our studio ratio.

There is no single correct ratio — it depends on the installer, the clay or film and the surface. Dial in from one of these and keep the surface wet.

WHAT'S IN IT (FROM THE SAFETY DATA SHEET)

The SDS (revised 14.01.2022) lists alkyl polyglucoside, a sugar-based non-ionic surfactant, at 10–20% and poly(dimethylsiloxane) at 3–5%, plus preservative and biocide components each under 0.05%. pH as supplied is 10.5. Labocosmetica describes it as silane-free; because the dimethicone is listed, read that as silane-free, not silicone-free. As supplied it is classified as causing serious eye damage (H318), so wear eye protection when handling the concentrate.
