Most pressure washer tips are industrial parts that ended up in detailing by accident — brightly colour-coded, easy to lose, designed for cleaning concrete. These were designed for washing cars.
The body is precision-machined from a single piece of marine-grade T304 stainless steel, with the orifice size and spray angle marked large enough to read at arm's length. T304 is the austenitic grade specified where salt and constant wetting are a given — the chromium content forms a self-repairing passive oxide layer, which is why it holds up in a wash bay far better than the plated brass most tips use.
Around it sits a textured rubber shroud: it gives you grip with wet, soapy hands, and if a nozzle ever comes loose mid-wash it puts rubber rather than bare metal near your paint.
Why 40°
A 40° fan is the wide, gentle pattern used for rinsing panels and paintwork. It spreads the same flow across a larger area, so the force landing on any one point is lower than a narrow 15° or 25° tip — the right trade-off when what you're rinsing is clear coat rather than a driveway.
Which size do I need?
Match the nozzle to your machine's flow rate, not its pressure rating. Too small and you push the pump above what it's rated for; too large and you lose pressure at the tip. These are The Rag Company's own recommendations, with metric added — most Australian machines list flow in litres per minute:

Find the flow rate on your machine's spec plate and pick the matching row. If you sit right on a boundary, the larger size gives a softer, more paint-friendly rinse; the smaller one holds more pressure.

The maths behind it
If you'd rather calculate it yourself, the orifice number comes from orifice = GPM × √(4000 ÷ target PSI). The Rag Company set the target at 1,000 psi — the paint-safe sweet spot for washing a car, as opposed to the 3,000–4,000 psi these nozzles could physically handle.
