Yum Cars Yum Glass+ | Hydrophobic Glass Sealant 50ml

Yum Glass+ is a hydrophobic sealant for exterior glass. It bonds to the windscreen and side glass so rain beads tightly and is carried away by airflow at speed, and dirt and bugs release more easily at the next wash. Supplied as a 50ml bottle with an applicator.

The chemistry

Clean glass is a high-energy surface that water wets easily — that is why rain sheets and smears on an untreated windscreen. A glass sealant leaves a water-repelling layer bonded to the glass so water beads instead. The Safety Data Sheet shows Glass+ is carried in isopropyl alcohol, which flashes off as the product hazes. The sealant can only bond to bare, decontaminated glass, which is why preparation matters so much.

Use it for

Windscreens, side and rear glass, and mirrors. It improves wet-weather visibility but is not a substitute for working wipers.

How to use

Clean the glass, decontaminate it with the Yum Clay Block, and wipe down with Yum Glass so it is completely bare. Put a few drops on the applicator and work it in, up and down then left to right. Start at the windscreen and work around the car, letting the product haze — by the time you are back at the windscreen it is ready to remove. Buff off with Yum Glass on a short-pile towel and finish with a second dry towel. Yum Cars recommend two coats, six hours apart. Keep the glass dry while it cures.
