Yum Ceramic is Yum Cars' flagship product — a spray sealant blended from multiple polymers and resins that lays down serious slickness, gloss and water repellency in a simple spray-and-wipe. It works on paint, glass, chrome, trim and alloy wheels, and doubles as a protective drying aid when diluted.

The chemistry

Yum Cars describe the actives as ceramic resins and polymers. The Safety Data Sheet confirms a water-based formula with small amounts of glycol ether carrier solvents that help the product spread thinly and level — it does not list the resin itself or any percentage, so we won't quote an SiO₂ figure.

Use it for

Stand-alone protection, or as a topper over an existing ceramic coating, wax or sealant — Yum Cars state it is completely safe on coated and non-coated vehicles. Yum quote durability of upwards of 6 months on a perfectly prepared vehicle; that is Yum's own figure, and preparation is the part that decides how close you get to it.

How to use

As a sealant. On clean, dry, cool paint, mist one or two sprays per panel, spread with one short-pile towel and buff with a second. Less is more — over-application is what causes streaking.

As a protective drying aid. Dilute 1:1 with water, mist over the wet car after the final rinse, and dry.

If you want to add Yum Wax on top, Yum recommend waiting 12 hours after applying Yum Ceramic.

Common questions

How long does Yum Ceramic last?
Yum Cars quote upwards of 6 months on a perfectly prepared vehicle. Preparation decides how close you get to that.

Can I use it over a ceramic coating?
Yes. Yum Cars state it is completely safe on coated and non-coated vehicles, so it works as a topper.

Why is it streaking?
Almost always too much product. One or two sprays per panel, spread with one towel and buff with a second.
