Paint Serum VI is the top of Yum Cars' coating range — described by Yum as the ultimate 6-year ceramic coating, and the result of over seven years of research, development and real-world testing. It is a single-application system with a fully flexible topcoat powered by silicon carbide.

Yum claim strong repellency against stains, bugs, etching and light scratches, with glass-like depth and clarity. As with the rest of the Serum range, the coating is designed to stay flexible and to partially absorb into the clear coat rather than sit on top. The 6-year figure is the manufacturer's; no coating makes paint scratch-proof, and real-world durability depends on preparation, application conditions and maintenance.

Preparation and application

The paint must be washed, fully decontaminated (tar, iron, clay), machine polished to the finish you want to keep, and wiped down with Yum Panel Wipe so it is completely free of oils and residue. Apply indoors in a controlled environment, one small section at a time, level and buff with clean short-pile towels, and keep the car dry while it cures. Follow the instructions supplied with the bottle — incorrect use can compromise results and durability.

Good to know
