A synthetic clay block for paint and glass. Yum Cars rate it for up to 40 uses, and unlike a traditional clay bar, if you drop it you can simply wash it and reuse it.

What claying does — and what it costs. Clay shears off bonded contamination that washing and chemical decontamination leave behind, leaving the surface glass-smooth. It is a mechanical process, and Yum Cars are upfront about it: this process has the potential to mark your paint, and clay should never be used on a regular basis. We agree. Clay only when the paint needs it, after the chemical steps, and ideally before a machine polish. If you are not polishing, apply protection straight afterwards.

How to use. Yum Cars' decontamination order is tar (Yum Tar & Residue), iron (Yum Wheels), then clay. Work on a clean, wet panel with plenty of lubrication — Yum recommend Yum Detailer, with a bucket of warm water and Yum Wash alongside. Glide the block with light pressure in straight lines until it moves freely, rinse the block often, and re-wash the car when you are done.

Care. Rinse in warm water and air dry. Store it face-up so the clay surface is not resting on anything.
