Polishing Compound

Polishing Compound — 300ml. The middle stage of Soft99's three-step paint correction system. Removes the marring left by Cutting Compound and brings the paint up to a high-gloss finish.

The chemistry

A medium-grade ceramic-and-aluminium-oxide abrasive in a water-based carrier — finer than Cutting Compound, coarser than Finishing Compound. Calibrated to clear the holograms and micro-marring that the heavy-cut stage leaves behind, without taking the gloss down to the level a fine-cut compound would.

Used as the second of three stages, or sometimes as a single-stage on lightly damaged paint that doesn't need full cutting work.

Use it for

Step 2 after Cutting Compound, single-stage compounding on lightly oxidised paint, removing light swirl marks without going through full three-stage correction, prep before a Fusso Coat or ceramic application.

How to use

Apply onto a foam polishing pad. Work the panel at 1200-1800 RPM (rotary) or speed 3-4 (DA) until the compound clears. Wipe residue. Follow with Finishing Compound for show finish, or a wax/coating directly if daily-driver level.
