The one that wins the magazine tests
Double Speed-Wax is Bilt Hamber's most decorated product — an Auto Express "Best Wax and Sealant" winner repeatedly over the past decade. We'll report that as their claim, because their own site quotes the run of wins inconsistently in two places and we'd rather not repeat a number we can't pin down.
The durability claim you can actually hold them to
Most wax brands quote durability in months, which is meaningless — it depends entirely on how often the car is washed and with what. Bilt Hamber do something better. They state Double Speed-Wax can be washed around 60 times with Auto-Foam and still resist removal.
Sit with that for a second. Auto-Foam is pH 13. Sixty exposures to a pH 13 alkaline pre-wash, and the film is still there. That is a wash-count claim tied to a specific, aggressive chemical — far more useful and far more falsifiable than "lasts 6 months."
The chemistry
A medium-hard film built on T1 carnauba — the top Brazilian grade, palest colour, maximum 0.2% ash, 83°C minimum melting point. Bilt Hamber attribute the occasional blooming this wax can show in humid conditions directly to the T1 carnauba content, which is a slightly self-incriminating admission and exactly the kind that tells you the carnauba is really in there.
Finis-Wax or Double Speed-Wax?
Finis-Wax is the harder film with no plasticising oils — the purist's choice, and the one with the longevity guarantee. Double Speed-Wax is medium-hard, easier to work with, and it's the one that keeps beating everything else in independent magazine testing. If you want the least fuss for the most measured performance, this is it.
How to use it
Wash with a salt-free shampoo. Clay and correct first — it's not abrasive and won't hide texture. Cleanser-Fluid first dramatically improves longevity.
Cool, shaded panels. Dampen the applicator pad. Light circular motions, sparingly. Let it dull 5–10 minutes, buff off with clean microfibre.
