Clean the wheel properly first, then dress it. Most people skip the first half.
A dressing laid over brake dust and old tyre browning is why tyres go patchy and brown again in a fortnight. This kit does the decontamination and the finish in the right order, with the tools that make each step actually work.
THE ORDER
1. SIDERO — the decontamination. Labocosmetica's iron and limescale remover. It dissolves bonded ferrous fallout and mineral residue, and it tells you it's working — where calcium residues are present the colour shifts from purple to a dark green-bronze. It's slow-drying by design, so it stays wet on the surface long enough to react. Labocosmetica rate it inert on bodywork, bumpers and plastic parts; the one thing to keep it off is bare, untreated metal. Use pure, or 1:4 with water on heavy contamination.
2. The Big EZ brush — the reach. Soft, non-scratch bristles on a long flexible stem, so you get behind spokes and around calipers instead of only cleaning the face of the wheel. The part of the wheel nobody cleans is the part that keeps re-contaminating the part they do.
3. NERO — the dressing. A solvent-free tyre gel that lays down a deep matte, factory-black finish rather than a greasy gloss. Solvent-free matters on tyres: solvent-carried dressings sling onto paint and can dry the sidewall out over time.
4. The no-soak applicators. Five 5" round microfibre pads with a liquid barrier inside, so the gel stays on the working face of the pad instead of soaking through into your fingers. You use noticeably less product per tyre.
